I have listened to your issues and requests from the previous
season and I have moved forward in an effort to truly offer the
best service in the province. The coming 2007 season has much
to offer both the valued customer and staff of DHS Inc.; from
a clearer communication with our office staff in booking your
appointments through to the offering of higher trained service
personnel at your site.
It is one thing to continue to claim to be the best, yet one
must show their clients that they truly are the best. It is with
this in mind that we have built our Mobile Training Center for
use by our own staff, clients and students. A strong theoretical
background must be accompanied by a focused hands-on training
period. Even with three engineers on staff (or maybe because of…)
I understand the need for practical experience. Many companies
choose to let this hands-on period be at their own client’s
site and expense. I disagree with this philosophy, and as such,
have invested a significant amount of time and resources into
developing this training facility, unlike anything in the irrigation
business in North America.
We must provide service technicians that are truly the best at
their given tasks. I also recognize that some sites are less complicated
than others, and that two technicians may not always be required.
The only dilemma that arises is the simple fact that two technicians
are often a more efficient approach for some sites. That is, two
technicians may be able to accomplish the task in 30 minutes,
whereas one technician takes 70-75 minutes by the time they enter
the premises, remove footwear, head downstairs, return upstairs,
open valves manually, re-enter the house…etc. What I can
offer is the fact that we have attempted to collect as much information
as possible from our visits, to be recorded to the customer files
and to be reviewed prior to scheduling.
In providing the best possible site service, I have recognized
that we must separate the service and installation sectors of
our business. In the attempt to increase our competitiveness in
the installation and construction sector, we have acquired “IRRIGATION
BY DESIGN”. This local irrigation company became a part
of DHS Inc. on January 1. The previous President of IBD, Tony
Serwatuk will become the Vice President of DHS Inc. With this
focus on the separation of service and installations, requests
for either business will be handled more efficiently and ultimately
result in improved customer service. Our new logo reflects this
acquisition, showing our new motto…irrigation by design.
