| What
do you need to know about Landscape Lighting Lamps? |
|
|
Lamps (light
bulbs) get hot and burn out, usually during our off-season. You
need this service to keep those lights burning bright. Why?
|
-
Landscape lights on average run from 6:00
pm until 12:00 am. Most lamps are rated for 2000 hours. Two
thousand hours divided by six hours per night is equal to three
hundred and thirty-three nights, leaving you without landscape
lighting for thirty-two days, or just over one month, every
year. Therefore lamps may need to be replaced every year.

Typical lamps used in outdoor landscape lights
and the newer house ‘down lights’, are called MR
(mirrored reflector). A common problem with these lamps is that
the mirror paint fades the more the lamps run. Therefore, to
keep the effect at peak capacity and give you quality lighting,
we like to keep the mirrors clean or replace the lamps even
if the light still burns but does not deliver the optimum result
(a badly faded mirror can reduce the output by almost 75%).
